Mothers Day Treat

Say it with flowers on Mother’s Day – or treat her to a whole garden full at Aberglasney.
The restored historical garden is the perfect setting to show your mum how much you love her. This year makes it even more special as the garden is giving away a luxury bath bombs in an assortment fruity flavours to the first 10 mothers through the gates.
The Gardener’s café is also preparing a special Mother’s Day menu for Sunday, March 14th and the garden shop is selling copies of The Flowering of Aberglasney by Graham Rankin.
Aberglasney’s director of operations, Graham Rankin, says although sub-zero temperatures this winter have destroyed many early blooming flowers and plants, Aberglasney is looking forward to a riot of colour this spring.
“As usual the brave resilient snowdrops have survived the bitterly cold spell and are flowering just outside the Lower Walled Garden,” he said.
“The common ironclads of the plant world are going to look a lot more appealing to gardeners in the future than some of the exotic tender species we have become accustomed to after this winter’s plummeting temperatures.”
“And after a seventeen year wait, some of the rare and exotic magnolia trees are going to flower for the first time this spring at Aberglasney with their 25cm wide blooms. Considered by many to be the most beautiful flowering trees in the world, these Asiatic beauties stop people in their tracks and look at them in amazement”.
Aberglasney has been planted for all-year interest. A unique Ninfarium garden which has been created within the ruinous central rooms and courtyard of the mansion is home to a wonderful collection of temperate plants from all over the world. The temperate plants including Orchids, Palms, Magnolias and Cycads are protected from the elements and thrive in the mild conditions.
